Lovely post Marisa. I also love oak trees. Another tree favorite are willow trees! But I think what feels like home to me is the smell of pumpkin bread baking in the oven ❤️

Robin, thank you for the kind comment. I love willows too! There is one in particular in our local botanical garden I love to visit.

Pumpkin bread does smell delicious when it’s baking. I might have to make some when it finally starts cooling off here in Texas. 💕

Yea pumpkin bread doesn’t hit the same way when it’s hot out lol. I’m in Tennessee but I agree once that heat cools off I’m in fall baking mode with all the yummy smelling spices!

I love this, Marisa! I don't know anyone with Cajun heritage, so it's really fun to get a glimpse from your post.

Cotton fields at harvest time make me feel at home. My dad was a cotton farmer, and my parents still live on the farm. I live 7 hours away now and nowhere near cotton fields, but every once in a while, I can squeeze a trip in during the fall just as the cotton is getting picked.

Laurie, thanks for sharing such a great memory! Likewise, I have never met a cotton farmer!

In 6th grade my class took a train from New Orleans to Chicago. As we headed north, I remember seeing fields and fields of cotton. It was an impressive sight. It was in the fall so it must have been close to picking time!

How fun to share your Cajun culture with your kids. I love big oak trees as well.
